This is exactly how the dream of Innovative Interiors started over 43 years ago.  Like Elsie de Wolfe, Denise's philosophy of interior design is that every person is entitled to a living or working space that reflects who they are, gives them joy and subsequently leads to productivity and an enhanced quality of life. 

Denise since the age of 16 wanted to be an interior decorator; however, at that time she was not able to make a career of it, so she entered the field of science and became a veterinary laboratory technician.  That lead to study in the UK, to finding a Barbadian husband, to visiting Barbados, to studying Interior Design in New York and finally to starting Innovative Interiors in 1997 in Barbados.  It has been a long enjoyable journey which continues ….

“My first project was with BET, Cable & Wireless – Barbados.  I spent three years renovating along with their in-house facilities team, various areas on the executive floor and ground floor public areas.  It was a pleasant learning curve working along with in-house consultants and artisans that were very experienced.  To this day I have many fond memories.  Ten years after we were contracted to once again do an upgrade to the Lobby area. The value of a repeat client.”

“On my first visit to Barbados I was mesmerised by the beautiful architecture of the ICBL Building. I realised that the corporate world was investing in building aesthetic and that in a few years, this growing trend would expand to interior spaces.  This led me to fulfil my lifelong dream of being a designer.  It was a dream come true that ICBL would reach out to me years later to work with them on a renovation project. I was now partnering with the company that had inspired me to start my career in interior design. Speak about destiny!”

“Hilton Barbados has always been an institution to the Barbadian people.  In 1999 when it was imploded, history was made.  History was again made when the new Hilton opened. Innovative Interiors were the designers on the ground during construction.  We are proud to say that we are still working with Hilton, fourteen years later.”
